Aug 11th 2020
If you haven’t heard, adding house plants to your space is
all the rage! It seems like every stunning image on Instagram or Pinterest has
a plant or two in the photo. It’s a subtle add, yet does so much for
transforming a space.
Aside from being beautiful pieces of décor, plants offer tons of health benefits. From getting fresh oxygen to purifying our air, plants prove to be a useful addition to our home.
Need some inspiration on how to work in a house plant into your design? Here are a few clever ways to utilize plants in your décor.
Add a Classic Vase
Nothing is quite as elegant as a plant is a beautiful pot. It’s an easy decorative add if you are lacking the creativity or challenge to do a whole plant arrangement, as one striking plant can make any empty table or corner pop. There are so many pots and vases to choose from, so you are sure to find one that suits your style.
Create a Display
Perhaps you are feeling up to the task of making a plant vignette. Creating a display of different size and shape plants offers tons of visual interest and texture to a space. Plus, you have yourself a display that’s giving you fresh oxygen as an added bonus! Try using different pot shapes and sizes as well to further create that visual interest to your plant display.
Have an Herb Garden
Are you someone who loves cooking? Why not bring some culinary herbs into your kitchen! Not only do they liven up an often décor-less room, but you get the benefit of using fresh herbs in your cooking. You are enhancing your food and your space at the same time! Some hearty herbs that tend to survive indoors are rosemary, thyme, lavender, and sage.
Get Hanging Plants
Love plants but don’t want to sacrifice on floor space? Get a hanging plant. These are great décor pieces as they help add some visual interest in higher up locations that tend to get untouched. Some good hanging plant options are ferns, ivy, spider plants, and pothos.
Make a Terrarium
Are you a lover of succulents and other cute tiny plants? A plant terrarium might be the perfect décor addition for you. A lot of plants love humidity and heat. A glass terrarium acts as a tiny greenhouse in your space, keeping your plants happy and healthy. A terrarium on a coffee table is a beautiful centerpiece display.
Add Plants to your Foyer
Entry spaces and foyers are a practical place for plants to live. These spaces are natural transitions between the outdoors and in. Extend the outdoors just a little bit further into your space by adding a couple tall plants to your entrance (or just right outside your door). They also act to frame your door, creating an enchanting experience when walking into your home.
Plant décor has come a long way. With all these different options on adding them to your space, there is no reason not to have more plants in your life!
