A striking antique black transferware plate featuring a detailed view of the Prebischtor in Saxon Switzerland, a dramatic mountainous landscape in the historic region of Saxony.
Titled “Prebischtor Sächsische Schweiz,” the central scene depicts the region's distinctive rock formations and wooded landscape in finely rendered black transfer decoration. The monochromatic palette gives the plate a wonderfully graphic quality while retaining the romantic character of traditional European scenic transferware.
Measuring approximately 8" in diameter, this antique plate is beautiful displayed on its own or incorporated into a collected wall of black and white transferware, landscapes, and antique European ceramics. Its neutral coloring works especially well in English Country, traditional, European-inspired, and collected interiors.
